External Replacement Battery
ProLiant 1850R Servers contain one battery that might require the installation of an external
replacement on the system board.
System Board Battery
If the server no longer automatically displays the correct date and time, you may need to
replace the battery that provides power to the real-time clock. Under normal use, battery life is
approximately five to ten years.
WARNING:
The system board contains a clock/CMOS lithium
battery, which can explode if mistreated. The battery is soldered in
place and can not be removed. Do not abuse or disassemble. Use
only replacement batteries supplied by Compaq Computer
Corporation.
To install an external battery on the system board:
1.
Perform the preparation procedures. See page 2-4.
2.
Remove the server cover. See page 2-7.
3.
Locate the battery header as depicted in the following illustration.
4.
Change the jumper on header E2 from pins 6-7 to pins 5-6.
