particles of dust or smoke on the inside surface of the glass panel or LCD.

Yes: This is most likely the result of water vapor, trapped between the glass panel and
the display, condensing on the inside surface of the glass panel as the iMac warms up.
The condensation should disappear on its own after the computer has been running
continuously for several hours and should not return thereafter.
No: Go on to the next step.
Is the aected area mainly in the upper region of the display and it doesn’t change in size or 3.

Yes: An accumulation of dust or smoke from external sources may exist on the inside surface
of the glass panel or display. Clean the inside of the glass panel following the cleaning
procedures in this manual. Note: Certain types of ultrasonic humidiers, when used with
unltered tap water, may generate a very ne mineral dust. Although the dust is invisible
to the unaided eye, it can accumulate inside the iMac. Many humidier manufacturers sell
mineral lters to prevent these minerals from becoming airborne.
Heavy concentrations of airborne smoke from cigarettes, cigars, cooking, etc. may, in rare
circumstances, accumulate inside the iMac. Ask the customer to evaluate their work area to
make sure that ashtrays and other sources of smoke are not placed in close proximity to the
air intake ports on the lower portion of the iMac.
No: No other action needs to be taken. Return the computer to the customer.
