Drawing battery power in SCSI disk mode
Your PowerBook continues to draw battery power when you use it
as a SCSI disk. Low battery power is indicated by the appearance
of a blinking low-power warning on the PowerBook’s screen.
If you see this warning while using your computer as a SCSI disk,
either plug in the power adapter or quit SCSI disk mode, as
described in the next section, so you can remove the battery for
recharging. If you wait until the computer goes to sleep
automatically, you may lose information.
S Important: Do not attempt to change batteries while
your computer is in SCSI disk mode.
S
Quitting SCSI disk mode
1. Shut down the desktop Macintosh.
2. Press the power button on the back of the Duo
MiniDock to turn off the PowerBook.
3. Turn off any other SCSI devices in the chain.
4. Disconnect the PowerBook from the adapter cable.
If you regularly plan to connect your PowerBook to the same
desktop Macintosh, you can leave the adapter cable attached
to the SCSI chain on the desktop Macintosh. See “Simplifying
the SCSI Disk Connection Process,” earlier in this chapter.
S Important: If you leave the adapter cable attached to the
PowerBook, the computer will behave as though it is still in
SCSI disk mode when you try to restart.
S
5. Disconnect the cables from the desktop Macintosh.
Your equipment is now ready for normal use. Make sure that
the SCSI devices connected to the desktop Macintosh are
properly terminated.
