HP (Hewlett-Packard) HP LaserJet 5 Printer User Manual

Printer Cleaning Tasks
Before you begin these steps, turn the
printer off and unplug the power cord.
1 Open the printer top cover and
remove the toner cartridge.
2 With a dry lint-free cloth, wipe any
residue off the paper access cover (it
has a green handle) and the adjacent
silver metal strip.
Caution
Do not touch the transfer roller (black
sponge-rubber roller shown in Figure 8-1)
with your fingers. Skin oils on the roller
can cause print quality problems.
If toner gets on your clothes, wipe it off
with a dry cloth and wash your clothes in
cold water. Hot water sets toner into fabric.
3 Wipe any dust or dirt off the paper
feed guides with a dry, lint-free cloth.
WARNING!
Avoid touching the adjacent fusing area.
It may be hot!
