Storing the print cartridge
Store the print cartridge in the original packaging until you are ready to install it.
Do not store the print cartridge in:
• Temperatures greater than 40°C (104°F).
• An environment with extreme changes in humidity or temperature.
• Direct sunlight.
• Dusty places.
• A car for a long period of time.
• An environment where corrosive gases are present.
• An environment with salty air.
Replacing the print cartridge
Order a new print cartridge when the 88 Toner Low message first appears so you will have it when
the current one no longer prints satisfactorily. See Ordering a print cartridge for more information.
Note: The manufacturer does not recommend that you use print cartridges from a third-
party refiller. Print quality and printer reliability cannot be guaranteed if you do. For
best results, use genuine Lexmark supplies.
Removing the used print cartridge
1 Turn the printer off and unplug the printer power cord.
Note: Remove any print jobs from any output bins before opening the upper front door.
2 Open the upper front door.
