To turn Wi-Fi on or o:
On the Home menu, tap wi-fi. The current setting is displayed in the Wi-Fi menu. Tap the Wi-Fi
submenu to toggle between On and O.
Viewing Wi-Fi Hotspots
With Airplane mode o and Wi-Fi on, your NOOK displays a Wi-Fi hotspot menu. When you tap
Wi-Fi hotspot, your NOOK scans for hotspots. While it is scanning, the uppermost menu item reads
Scanning, please wait....When your NOOK has finished scanning, it displays a list of Wi-Fi hotspots
that are detected (in range and that have sucient signal strength to connect to).
At the bottom of the hotspot list, your NOOK displays hotspots that are not in range, but that are
remembered. Remembered hotspots include those that have been detected before or configured,
and that have been connected to. If your NOOK is currently connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot, that
hotspot has the word connected next to it.
Hotspots have the following indicator icons next to them:
An icon that gives the Wi-Fi signal strength (from low to high):
If the hotspot is secured, a lock icon is displayed:
A string next to the hotspot name describes the status of the hotspot:
connected: Your NOOK is currently connected to this hotspot.
connecting: Your NOOK is in the process of connecting to this hotspot.
remembered: This hotspot has either been detected before and connected to or has been
manually configured. It is in range, but your NOOK is not connected to it.
not in range, remembered: This hotspot has either been detected before and connected to
or has been manually configured, but it is not in range.
When Multiple Hotspots are In Range
When multiple Wi-Fi hotspots are in range, if you connect to more than one hotspot, your NOOK
will preferentially use the last hotspot connected to. If you want to use a dierent hotspot, have
your NOOK forget the most recently defined hotspot.
