Overview
TherearedifferenttypesofresetintheTMS320DM643xDMP.Thetypesofresetdifferbyhowtheyare
initiatedand/orbytheireffectonthechip.EachtypeisbrieflydescribedinTable10-1.Refertothe
device-specificdatamanualformoredetailsoneachoftheresettypes.

POR(Power-On-Reset)PORpinlowTotalresetofthechip(coldreset).Resetsall
modulesincludingmemory,emulationlogic.The
power-onreset(POR)pinmustbedrivenlow
duringpowerrampofthedevice.Devicebootand
configurationpinsarelatched.
WarmResetRESETpinlowResetsallmodulesincludingmemory,except
emulationlogic.Emulatorstaysaliveduringwarm
reset.Devicebootandconfigurationpinsare
latched.
MaxResetDSPemulatororWatchdogTimer(Timer2).Sameeffectaswarmreset,exceptthedeviceboot
andconfigurationpinsarenotre-latched.
Module/PeripheralLocalDSPorexternalhostsoftwareIndependentlyresetsaspecificmodule.Module
Resetresetisintendedasadebugtool,notnecessarily
asatooltouseinproduction.
DSPLocalResetExternalhostsoftwareResetstheDSPCPU.DSPinternalmemories
(L1P,L1D,andL2)arenotreset.
Therearetwodevice-levelglobalresetpinsontheDM6437DMP:Power-On-Reset(POR)andwarm
reset(RESET).Seedevice-specificdatamanualformoredetailsontheseresetpins.
UponPORandwarmreset,theDM6437DMPlatchesthevaluesfromthebootandconfigurationpins.
Refertodevice-specificdatamanualforthelistofbootandconfigurationpins,andthedevice'sdefault
states.
