Note: If you have previously exited the IBM menus by pressing
the Online
H button, the IBM MAIN MENU will be displayed the
next time the 4213 is taken off line.
Coax/Twinax option modes of operation
There are two modes of operation for the Coax/Twinax option
interface. These modes are as follows:
• ISO 6937
• EBCDIC-SNA or EBCDIC-DSC
The ISO6937 mode
This mode converts EBCDIC encoded input data into ISO6937
encoded data before passing the data onto the 4213. To
operate in this mode, ISO6937 must be selected at the control
panel.
Note: The language table selection, required to make sure that
the correct national character mapping is used, must be made
from within the IBM menus and not from the XES emulation
menus.
The EBCDIC-SNA and EBCDIC-DSC modes
These modes pass EBCDIC encoded data to the 4213 without
carrying out any translation. To operate in these modes, the
EBCDIC-SNA or EBCDIC-DSC encoding must be selected from
the printer control panel.
If the 4213 is expected to operate as a SNA Character String
(SCS) printer, then EBCDIC-SNA encoding must be selected.
