5Add the following entry to the
/etc/printcap
file:
local_print_queue_name|[description_of_printer]:\
:lp=:mx#0:rm=printer_IP_name:\
:rp=remote_print_queue_name:\
:sd=path_to_this_queue’s_spool_directory:\
:lf=path_to_this_queue’s_log_file:

6 Create the spool directory that you specified in step 5:
mkdir path_to_this_queue’s_spool_directory
chmod 775 path_to_this_queue’s_spool_directory
7Try printing by using this command:
lpr -Pprinter_queue_name filename
Note that there’s no space between
-P and printer_queue_name.
