INSTALLING THE CAMSHAFTS
1. Install:
Scamshaft sprockets
SBe sure to set the sprockets in the specified
position as shown in the figure.
STemporarily tighten the bolts in this stage.

2. Install:
Scamshaft (exhaust)
Scamshaft (intake)
a. Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise until
the TDC mark

Do not turn the crankshaft during the cam-
shafts installation. Damage or improper
valve timing will result.
b. Fit the timing chain onto both camshaft
sprockets and install the camshafts.
SInstall the exhaust camshaft

first, then the
intake camshaft

SInstall the camshafts with the punched mark
facing upward.
SKeep the timing chain as tense as possible on
the exhaust side.
c. Install the camshaft caps

with dowel pins.
SMake sure that each camshaft cap is installed
in its original place by reference to its em-
bossed identification mark, as follows:
Intake: I
Exhaust: E
SInstall the camshaft cap with the arrow mark
pointing towards the right side of the engine.
STemporarily tighten the bolts in this stage.
