INSTALLING THE PISTONS AND CYLIN-
DERS
The following procedure applies to all of the pis-
tons and cylinders.
1. Install:
Stop ring
1
S2nd ring
2
Slower oil ring rail
3
Supper oil ring rail
4
Soil ring expander

SBe sure to install the piston rings so that the
manufacturer’s marks or numbers
a
are lo-
cated on the upper side of the rings.
SThe piston rings that have an “R” mark must be
installed into the 2nd ring groove.
2. Install:
Spiston
1
Spiston pin
2
Spiston pin clip (New)
3
SApply engine oil onto the piston pin.
SMake sure that the arrow mark
a
on the piston
points towards the exhaust side of the engine.
SBefore installing the piston pin clip, cover the
crankcase opening with a clean rag to prevent
the piston pin clip from falling into the crank-
case.
SReinstall each piston into its original cylinder
(numbering order starting from the left: #1 to
#4).
