GuidelinesRack Requirement

Ensurethat the rack complieswith one of these standards:
•
A 19-in. rack asdefined in Cabinets,Racks,Panels,and Associated Equipment (document
numberEIA-310–D)publishedbytheElectronicsIndustryAssociation(http://www.eia.org).
•
Ensurethattherackrailsarespacedwidelyenoughtoaccommodatetheswitchchassis'external
dimensions . Theouteredges of the front-mountingbrackets extend the width of the chassisto
19 in. (48.2 cm).
•
Therackmust be strong enoughto support the weightof the switch.
•
Ensurethat the spacingof railsand adjacentracksallows forthe proper clearancearoundthe
switch and rack.
Racksize and strength
•
Secure the racktothe building structure.
•
If earthquakes area possibility in yourgeographical area,securethe rack tothe floor.
•
Secure the racktothe ceiling bracketsas wellaswall or floorbrackets formaximum stability.
Rackconnectionto
buildingstructure
Onepair of mountingbracketsformounting the switch on two postsof arackis supplied
with each switch. For mounting the switch on four posts of a rack or cabinet, you can
order a four-post rack-mount kit separately.
