Layer 2 Switch
An IP component that statically reroutes packets and streams to another port on the layer-2 switch. The packets and
streams are rerouted based on the destination Media Access Control (MAC) address.
Layer 3 Switch
An IP component that dynamically reroutes packets and streams to another port on the Layer-3 switch. The packets and
streams are rerouted based on the IP address of the packet or the stream. IP Routing is a Layer-3 functionality.
Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP)
A standard for Layer 2 tunneling for remote access. L2TP was established by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).
