D.5 Capturing the Event Log, Hardware,
and Configuration Information
You can capture and save the following information to a file on your hard drive:
• Entire event log
• All hardware information
• All configuration information
• All debug information that is turned on.
This is useful if you want to print all of this information or attach it to an e-mail message.
The steps below use HyperTerminal as the terminal emulator software. If you use a different terminal
emulator, your procedure may be different.
To capture the event log, hardware, and configuration information:

With HyperTerminal up and running as your RS-232 interface terminal, from the System Menu, select
Utilities Menu and press Enter.
The Utilities Menu displays.

From the
Transfer
menu in HyperTerminal, select
Capture Text
.
The Capture Text window displays.
3 Enter the path and file name you want to use to store the log file contents.
Save the file with a.txt file extension.
4 Click Start.

Select
Dump Debug Info
and press
Enter
.
6 From the Transfer menu in HyperTerminal, select Capture Text, then select Stop.
7 To capture the same information for the other SM, repeat steps1 through 6 from the computer connected
to the other SM.
D.6 Displaying Drive Errors and
Resetting Error Statistics
You can display drive errors for a specific drive. You know a drive has errors when you see the letter E
in the first column of the Display Drives screen.
