Cleaning for upper media tray jams: media-pick roller
Approximate time to complete: 5 minutes
Clean the media-pick roller if the printer incorrectly feeds paper or
transparencies or if it feeds more than one sheet at a time.
You will need the pick-roller cleaning tray included in the cleaning kit and
isopropyl alcohol. Refer to ÒUsing isopropyl alcoholÓ on page 7-19 for more
information on proper cleaning procedures.
The printerÕs front panel messages will guide you through the necessary
steps to perform this automatic cleaning procedure. You can also manually
clean the media-pick roller; refer to page 7-39.
Note
Media-picking problems can also occur when the maintenance
tray is not properly latched. Try removing and relatching the
maintenance tray to cure a media-picking problem. Refer to
“Replacing the maintenance tray” on page 7-11 for instructions.
Automatically cleaning the media-pick roller
1.
When the printer is on and the Ready message or the printerÕs
name appears in the front panel, press the Clean button. The
printer displays the Þrst selection in the menu:
Clean:Light Stripes
<---- Clean Test

Press the left arrow(<----) button until the following front
panel message appears:
Clean:Media Tray Jams
<---- Clean Test
3.
Press the Clean button once again.
