Care and Maintenance
General Use
Turn the scanner off before disconnecti ng the power.
If memory is los t, s i mply reprogram each c hannel.
Always press each button fir mly until you hear the entr y tone for that key entry.
Location
Do not use the scanner in high- moisture environments such as the kitchen or
bathroom.
Avoid placing the unit in di rect sunli ght or near heating elements or vents.
If the scanne r receives stro ng inte rfer en ce or electrical n oise, move it or its
antenna away from the sour ce of the noise. If possibl e, a higher elevation might
p ro v i de be tter r ece ption.
Also tr y changing the height or angl e of the antenna.
Cleaning

C l ean the outside of the sc anner wi th a mi l d deter gent.
To pr event scratches, do not use abrasi ve cleaner s or solv ents. Be careful not to
rub the LCD window.
Do not use excessive amounts of water.
Repairs
Do not attempt any repair. The scanner contains no user serviceable parts.
Contact the Uni den Customer Ser vice Center or take it to a qualified repair
technician.
Birdies
All radios can receive “bi rdies” (undesired si gnals). If your scanner stops during
Scan mode and no sound is heard, it m ight be receiving a birdie. Birdi es are
internal ly generated si gnals inherent in the electr onics of the scanner.
Press [L/O] to lock out the channel.
