Setting Up Your Scanner
Thes e g uidelines will help you install and s et up your new s c anner:
The BC T15 can be pl aced on a conveni ent sur face i n your hom e as a base station,
and connected to a standard outlet that suppli es 120VAC, 60Hz. You must use
either the supplied antenna or an electrically correct outdoor antenna, properly and
safe ly mo un ted at you r cho sen site.
T he scanner is also designed to accommodate either DIN-E and ISO- DIN
automotive mounting configurations. A DIN-E sleeve and keys, ( Part Number
D IN-0001) are optional and available from Uniden.
T he unit can also be placed above or beneath the dash of your vehicle using the
supp l ie d br acke t and mounti ng hardwar e.
If your scanner rec eiv es interference or electr ic al nois e, move the scanner or
i ts antenna away from the source.
To improve the scanner ’s r eception, use an optional external antenna
designed for multi-band coverage. (You can purchase this type of antenna at a
l ocal electronics store). If the opti onal antenna has no cable, use 50- 75 Ω
coaxial cable for lead-in. A mating plug might be necessary for the opti onal
antennas.
Use an optional mono earphone or mono headset wi th proper i mpedance
(32 Ω) for pr ivate listening. Read the precautions on the inside front cover of
this Owners Ma nu a l.
Do not use the scanner in high-m oisture environm ents such as the kitchen or
bathroom.
Avoid placing the scanner i n direct sunlight or near heating elements or vents.
Base Station
T his is the simplest approach to let you get started quickly. Decide on a locati on
that is convenient to a nearby wall outlet, has desk space to let you compl ete your
programming worksheets, will safely all ow the indoor antenna to be extended, or
near a w indow to use an outdoor antenna.
