Troubleshooting
From ti me to tim e, Un ide n might up da te the BCT15 ’s firmwa re to change the
scanner’s performance or incorporate new features. These updates can be
applied by y ou using the supp lied P C c able and the software t hat we will provide.
Ple ase no te tha t firmwa re da ta must be in put by me an s of the fro nt pa n el serial
cable connection, not the rear connector. We recommend you visit the Uniden web
site period ically to check fo r the lat est upda tes.
H owever, if you believe your BCT15 is not performing properly, try these
suggesti ons.
Problem Possible Cause Suggestion
The scanner doesn’t
wo rk.
T he scanner m ight not be
receiving any po wer.
Make sure the AC adapter is connected to
an AC outlet and the scanner. The di splay
sh ould light and cycle if yo u repea t edly
press [VOL]
If there is a wall switch that control s power
to the AC outl et w here y ou c onnected the
AC ada pter, ma ke sure i t is on.
Improper reception. The an tenna m ig ht ne ed to be
adjusted.
Check the antenna connec tion or m ov e or
reposition the antenna.
Move the scanner.
You might be in a remote area that could
requi re an optional multi-band antenna.
Check with yo ur d ealer or local electro nics
store.
Scan won’t stop. T he squel ch might need to be
adjusted.
Adjust the squelch threshold. See “Turning
On the Scanner and Setting the Squelc h”
on Page 49.
T he an tenna m ig ht ne ed to be
adjusted.
Check the antenna connec tion.
One or more channels might be
l oc ked out.
Make sure t he ch ann els you wa nt to scan
ar e not l ocked out.
T he channel’s frequency m ight
not be s tor ed in memory.
Make sure t he ch ann el’s freq uency is
stored i n the scanner’s memory .
T he channel might not be
active.
Wait fo r a transm ission on the channel .
