7.4.1.2 How to Set Up Alerts
The procedure for adding an object to be measured in Alert view is similar to the
Chart view function, but you also have to complete the Alert If field. The steps
are as follows:
1. Choose an object to measure.
2. Choose the counter to measure.
3. Choose the instance of the object to measure.
4. Supply a numeric value in the Alert If field (see Figure 101 on page 125).
This value is the threshold upon which the alert will be generated when the
object measured reaches it.
5. You can supply an optional program or batch file name in the Run Program
on Alert field (see Figure 101 on page 125). This program or batch file will
be triggered once the threshold value is reached.
7.5 Log View
Log view is useful for capturing and storing data to disk for analysis at a later
stage.
To select the Log view, click on the View pull-down menu and then select the
Log option. Alternatively, you can click on smart icon . You will see a
panel that resembles the one in Figure 102.
