268 Problem solving
Clearing a printer jam (continued)
Indicator lamp 10
When indicator lamp 10 is lit, there is a media jam in the fuser area.
Procedure
1. First complete the procedure for indicator lamp 9, on
page 266. If the jam is not cleared, continue to the
next step.
2. Open the front door of the printer.
3. Rotate the latch-handle counterclockwise to open
the upper area of the printer.
Note: If the open light is off or blinking, the
latch handle can not open the upper area of the
printer.
4. Lift the upper area of the printer until the stopper is
latched.
Warning: The fuser area is extremely hot.
Never touch areas other than the handle when
clearing a media jam.
5. Rotate the fuser lever counterclockwise and gently
pull the fuser out.
Warning: Sharp fuser parts are labeled;
use care to avoid touching them.
6. Remove the jammed media in the direction of the
arrow. If it is removed from the left side of the fuser,
unfused toner could contaminate the next copy.
