Chapter 4
Cabling Guidelines
This chapter is intended to help you set up your server and drive cage option(s) for
optimal performance. Use this chapter along with the technical information on the
Quick Hardware Installation Poster and the labels found on the inside of the server
cover for complete and comprehensive information.This chapter also identifies the
cables you use and how to connect them.
Connecting the Power Cord and
Peripheral Devices
After all internal options have been installed and the server cover has been
replaced, connect the power cord and peripheral devices such as the keyboard,
mouse, and monitor. Icons on the back of the server identify the function of
each connector. Connecting the cabling for options is discussed in detail later in
this chapter.
WARNING: To reduce risk of electrical shock, fire, or damage to
the equipment, do not plug telephone or telecommunications
connectors into this RJ-45 receptacle.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to the
equipment:
Do not disable the power cord grounding plug. The grounding
plug is an important safety feature.
Plug the power cord into a grounded (earthed) electrical
outlet that is easily accessible at all times.
To disconnect power to the equipment, unplug the power
cord from each power supply.
IMPORTANT: Do not place anything on power cords or cables. Arrange them
so that no one may accidentally step or trip on them. Do not pull on a cord or
cable. When unplugging cords from the electrical outlet, grasp the cord by the
plug.
