Compaq SmartStart Installation
If you use Compaq SmartStart to install the OS, the drivers are installed
automatically.
Manual installation
If you choose not to let Compaq SmartStart configure the server, follow this
procedure:
1.
Insert the Compaq SmartStart and Support Software CD into the drive.
2.
Boot your system.
3.
Select Manual Installation.
4.
Follow the instructions that display on the monitor.
5.
If you have already punched out the SSD diskettes as part of your
Manual Installation process, skip to step 9.
6.
Insert the Compaq SmartStart and Support Software CD into the CD
drive of a system running Windows 95 or NT 4.0.
7.
In the diskette builder software selection screen, choose Compaq OS/2
NIC Support Software and Compaq OS/2 Support Software (SSD).
8.
Follow the instructions to punch out these diskettes.
9.
Insert the diskette titled Compaq OS/2 Support Software Diskette,
Utilities-1 into the A: drive.
10.
Change path to A:
11.
Type Viewme at the command prompt.
12.
Follow the directions to install Compaq system and storage drivers and
Compaq utilities on your Compaq server.
13.
Follow the instructions given in the corresponding section to install
Compaq NIC drivers on your Compaq server.
NOTE: If you do not have easy access to a Windows 95 or Windows NT in your
organization, you can boot the server on which you just installed OS/2 with the
SmartStart and Support Software CD and then choose the Support Software option
to punch out the SSD Diskettes.
