4. To learn more about the different virtual modems, click the question mark in
the title bar and then the modem type. A small window with information
about the modem opens.
5. On the Ports page, the virtual modems can be assigned to COM ports.
6. If no Dial-Up Software requiring COM ports is used, accept the default
settings.
7. Confirm the selected configuration by clicking OK.
8. Once installation is completed, you will be prompted to restart Windows.
9. To view the list of installed modems and have the opportunity to change any
modem settings, select ”Start / Settings / Control Panel / Modems.”
Removing the ISDN CAPI Port device driver
To remove the ISDN CAPI Port Device Driver completely from your system,
proceed as follows:
1. Open the COntrol Panel and double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
2. Select the entry ISDN CAPI Port.
3. Click the Add/Remove... button. The uninstallation routine will be started
and the modem entries will be removed from your system.
4. Once the device driver has been removed from your system, you will be
prompted to restart Windows.
Modem settings using registry commands
Using registry commands the user can control all modems universally.
During installation of the ISDN CAPI Port Device Driver, the virtual modems
initially are installed with a default configuration. It is generally not necessary to
change these default settings. If a change should become necessary, however,
modem settings can be adapted to your needs using registry commands.
Such a configuration is essentially the same for all virtual modems. The general
procedure is described below. The individual registry commands are listed in the
corresponding sections as well as in Appendix A.
1. Open Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Modems.
2. Select the desired modem.
3. Click the Properties button.
4. Click the Advanced... button on the Connection page.
5. Enter the registry command in the Extra Settings input field.
To enter multiple registry commands, separate commands with a semicolon
and a space. Only the first command entered should begin with the
characters "AT".
