After I installed the IBM International ISDN PC Card in Windows 95, I reinstalled
CardWizard for Windows 95. Now the adapter is not properly recognized any
more. What can I do?
The device driver installation instructions for Windows 95 state:
Some notebook computer manufacturers install PCMCIA support software such
as SystemSoft's CardWizard as part of the Windows 95 package. IBM includes this
program with its ThinkPad notebook computer series. This section briefly
describes how to remove CardWizard from the system. This software must be
removed to ensure correct operation of the IBM International ISDN PC Card.
When you reinstall CardWizard for Windows 95 –even the latest version
available– you might see a message from CardWizard like the one illustrated
below:
You can get the adapter to work by stopping it in CardWizard, removing the
adapter from the PCMCIA slot, and then reinserting it. However, you might have
to do this every time you want to use the IBM International ISDN PC Card,
regardless of whether you hot-insert the card or cold-start your system. The best
solution is to completely remove SystemSoft's CardWizard software from
Windows 95 and use the adapter without it.
I have followed the instructions for installing the IBM International ISDN PC
Card in Windows 95. I am using Windows 95 OSR 2.x. Whenever I try to hot-
plug the adapter, the system freezes. What can be done to solve this?
It appears that there is a problem with the PCMCIA support in Windows 95 OSR
2.x. This problem was not seen in the initial release of Windows 95 and Service
Pack 1. If you experience this problem, then the only solution is to cold-insert or
cold-remove the adapter, i. e. shut down and turn off your notebook computer,
insert or remove the IBM International ISDN PC Card in any PCMCIA slot, and
then restart your computer.
How do I install the English Microsoft Windows 95 Dial-Up Networking 1.4
update onto a non-English Windows 95 version?
