Disabling USB
Communications
Disabling the ECP’s USB Port
In some situations, you may need to disable the ECP’s front USB port. Disabling the
USB port prevents users from using or saving documents to USB storage devices
using the ECP’s front USB receptacle. The other USB receptacles will not be
deactivated, as they’re required for the interactive whiteboard and computer
connections to function. Follow these instructions to disable this feature.
IMPORTANT
Do not perform this operation if you are unfamiliar with using jumper switches.
Always use an anti-static wrist wrap when working on the ECP.
You will need a pair of needle-nose pliers for this procedure.
To remove the USB
jumper switch
1. Remove and cut the case on the ECP (see page 35).
2. Locate the USB jumper behind the jumper cover port.
3. Using the needle-nose pliers, pull the jumper from the two connection posts, and
place the jumper back onto a single post.
