OpenBoot initialization commands
The following table describes the OpenBoot initialization command sequences that are
provided by the system. These commands are useful in some situations in which the
system fails to boot. To use the commands, hold down the keys after turning on the power
to your system. Keep the keys pressed until the keyboard lights flash and the screen
displays the ok prompt.
Command Description
Stop Bypass POST. This command does not depend on
the security mode.
Note:
Note: Some systems bypass POST as a
default. In such cases, use Stop+A
to start POST.
Stop+A Abort.
Stop+D Enter diagnostic mode (set diag-switch? to
true).
Stop+F Enter Forth on TTYB instead of probing. Use exit
to continue with the initialization sequence. This is
useful if hardware is broken.
Stop+N Reset NVRAM contents to default values. If this is
done, you must readminister the NVRAM options.
!
CAUTION:
CAUTION: Do not use this command under
normal operation. Running this
command causes a system to lose
the factory NVRAM settings and
the system will not boot properly.
