Fax Problems
Symptom Cause and Solution
The machine is not
working, there is no
display and the buttons
are not working.
• Unplug the power cord and plug it in again.
• Check for power at the outlet.
No dial tone. • Check that the phone line is connected properly.
• Check the phone wall jack by plugging in
another phone.
The numbers stored in the
memory do not dial
correctly.
• Make sure the telephone numbers are stored
correctly in the memory.
• Print a Phonebook list. See page 3.63.
The document does not
feed into the WorkCentre
Pro 580.
• Make sure the document is not wrinkled or
creased and you are feeding it correctly. Ensure
the document meets specifications. See
“Specifications” on page A.2.
• Make sure that the front cover is firmly closed.
You cannot receive faxes
automatically.
• Ensure that either FAX, ANS/FAX or AUTO mode
is selected.
• Ensure there is paper in the machine.
• Check if the display shows “MEMORY FULL.” If
so, wait until memory clears.
Your machine cannot
receive faxes manually.
• Ensure you press the Start/Enter button
before you hang up the handset.
Your machine will not
transmit.
• Make sure that the document is loaded face
down.
• Check that the LCD display shows “TX.”
• Ensure the other machine to which you are
sending is able to receive your fax.
You cannot poll another
machine.
• The fax machine you are polling may be using a
poll code.
• The other machine is not setup for transmit
polling.
