Diagnostics menu
The DIAGNOSTICS menu allows you to run tests that can help you identify and solve problems with
the printer.
Menu item Description
PRINT EVENT LOG This item will print an event log that will display the last 50 entries in the
printer’s event log, starting with the most recent.
SHOW EVENT LOG This item displays the last 50 events on the control panel display, starting with
the most recent.
PQ TROUBLESHOOTING This item prints a Series of 8 pages that include instructions, pages for each
color, a demo page, and a configuration page. These pages can help isolate
print-quality problems.
PRINT DIAGNOSTICS PAGE This item allows you to print a page that can assist in diagnosing printer
problems.
DISABLE CARTRIDGE CHECK This item allows you to remove a print cartridge to help determine which
cartridge is the source of a problem.
PAPER PATH SENSORS This item performs a test on each of the printer’s sensors to determine if they
are working correctly and displays the status of each sensor.
PAPER PATH TEST This item is useful for testing the paper handling features of the printer, such
as the configuration of the trays.
MANUAL SENSOR TEST This item performs tests to determine whether the paper path sensors are
operating correctly.
MANUAL SENSOR TEST 2 This item performs tests to determine whether the paper path sensors are
operating correctly.
COMPONENT TEST This item will activate individual parts independently to isolate noise, leaking,
and other hardware issues.
PRINT/STOP TEST This item isolates print quality faults more accurately by stopping the printer
in mid-print cycle. Stopping the printer in mid-print cycle allows you to see
where the image begins to degrade. Stopping the printer in mid-print cycle
will cause a jam that may need to be manually removed. A service
representative should perform this test.
COLOR BAND TEST Use this page to print a color band test page that is used to identify arcing in
the high-voltage power supply.
