5. NetWare Configuration
This chapter describes how to configure the machine to use as a print server or
a remote printer in a NetWare environment.

❒ NetWare must be set to active using the machine's control panel. For more in-
formation about how to set it, see the Setup Guide.
Installing the NIB Setup Tool
A utility called the NIB Setup Tool is provided to configure the machine to work
in a network environment. This section describes how to install the SmartNet-
Monitor for Admin, and how to run the NIB Setup Tool.
Limitation
❒ The NIB Setup Tool is supported to work with the following operating sys-
tems.
• Microsoft Windows 95/98/Me
• Microsoft Windows 2000
• Microsoft Windows NT 4.0

❖ SmartNetMonitor for Admin
Using a printer in a NetWare environment, configure the NetWare printing
environment by using SmartNetMonitor for Admin.
Note
❒ If you configure the NetWare printing environment by using SmartNet-
Monitor for Admin under the following environments, NetWare Client
provided by Novell is required.
• NDS mode in Windows 95/98
• NDS or Bindary mode in Windows 2000/Windows NT 4.0

❖ Printers listed by SmartNetMonitor for Admin
SmartNetMonitor for Admin displays a list of printers, which are connected
to the network.
If you cannot find out the printer from the displayed list, refer to the config-
uration page printed from the printer. For more information about printing a
configuration page, see the Setup Guide.
