8.5.3 Configuring L2TP in Windows 2000
Windows 2000 does not support using pre-shared keys by default. Use the
following procedures to edit the registry and then configure the computer to use
the L2TP client.
8.5.3.1 Editing the Windows 2000 Registry
In Windows 2000, you need to create a registry entry and restart the computer to
have it use pre-shared keys.
1 Click Start > Run. Type regedit and click OK.

2 Click Registry > Export Registry File and save a backup copy of your registry.
You can go back to using this backup if you misconfigure the registry settings.
