Installing
Desktop User Guide for Pylon Conduit and Pylon Pro, Version 5.4 /39
Installing Pylon
Once you have followed the steps outlined in the section, “Before you
install” (page 37), you are ready to move on to installing Pylon Conduit
or Pylon Pro on both your desktop computer and your mobile device.
When you are installing Pylon you will be prompted to choose from one
of two install options:
■ Typical
Installs all conduits: Mail, Calendar, Address Book, To Do, Memo
Pad (Palm OS only), and Expense (Palm OS only). If you have
purchased Pylon Pro, choosing Typical install option also installs
Pylon Pro custom database conduits.
■ Custom
Installs only the PIM conduits you choose. If you have purchased
Pylon Pro, choosing the Custom install option also installs Pylon Pro
custom database conduits. If you choose not to install certain PIM
conduits at this time, but later wish to install them, you will need to
reinstall Pylon at that time.
Think about which option you will choose before you initiate the
installer.
Caution Be sure to place your Pylon installer file (pylondesktopPocket PC.exe or
pylondesktoppalm.exe) in a permanent location where you can easily find
it. You may need to run it again to modify or repair your Pylon
installation. See “Modifying your Pylon installation” (page 49) and
“Repairing your Pylon installation” (page 51).
Note If your installation fails to complete successfully, first see
“Troubleshooting: Installing” (page 180). If the information there does
not provide a solution, consult the Pylon technotes that are linked from
the Pylon Technical Support page, referenced in “Related publications”
(page 21).
To install Pylon:
1. Place your Pocket PC or Palm OS device in its cradle and perform a
final sync. After syncing, leave your device in its cradle.
2. Close Lotus Notes.
3. Double-click the installer file pylondesktopPocket PC.exe or pylondesktop-
palm.exe.
Note If you forgot to uninstall a previous version of Pylon software that is
running on your desktop, you will receive a prompt asking if you
want to uninstall at this time. Click Yes to uninstall, then double-
click the installer file again to restart the installation process.
