Customizing Pylon
Desktop User Guide for Pylon Conduit and Pylon Pro, Version 5.4 /83
Note On all platforms, the Attachment types to sync settings apply only to
messages downloaded to the mobile device in a sync. Any attachments
to messages uploaded from the mobile device are always processed as
is, regardless of file format. When append as text is selected for
Word attachments, any text causing the message to exceed the
operating system’s maximum message size will be truncated. On
Palm OS devices the maximum message size is 32KB; on Pocket PC
OS devices the maximum is 2048KB.
■ Maximum total size of attachments per message: Change the
number here from the default of 100 (KB) to whatever size you
prefer. Allowable range is 1 to 2048 (KB). Any attached file that
does not fit within the maximum size limit is simply not synced;
attached files are never truncated.
Note The Maximum total size of attachments per message setting is
applied by Pylon to messages downloaded to the mobile device in a
sync. This limit applies only to attachments carried as separate files,
not to Word files appended as text. With multiple attached files, the
files are processed in the order that they were attached. Any file that
would cause the total size of attachments to exceed the maximum
allowed is not synced.
Custom Field Mapping section (Palm only)
3. Leave this section as is, unless you are a Lotus Notes expert.
See “Making changes to Custom Field Mapping” (page 75) for an
explanation of this advanced feature.
Note The next step is very important to be sure that all of your changes
are recognized.
4. Click Save Filter.
Pylon saves your changes. The change to your sync options will
occur the next time you sync your device.
Continue with “Accessing Pylon on your Pocket PC OS device”
(page 98) or “Accessing Pylon on your Palm OS device” (page 112).
Making Calendar-specific changes to a sync filter
In addition to the Custom Field Mapping section, Calendar filters have
a Calendar Configuration section that is specific to the Calendar
application.
