26.1 Global Mirror examples - configuration
In order to illustrate the basic use of commands to manage a Global Mirror environment, the
following examples are limited to a few volumes only to keep these examples as simple as
possible and avoid confusing complexity.
Figure 26-1 shows the volumes with their device numbers and their SSIDs, which are used
throughout most of the examples within this chapter. Some other configuration data may be
used for the DS CLI examples, or examples based on ICKDSF.
Figure 26-1 Global Mirror base configuration for the following examples
Note that one primary volume resides in SSID 2C00, and two other primary volumes belong to
SSID 2D00, all of them in the primary storage disk subsystem 27131. These primary volumes
are also referred to as A volumes. The corresponding secondary volumes are in the
respective SSIDs in the remote disk subsystem 73081; so are the FlashCopy target volumes.
When a Global Mirror configuration is in normal operation, the Global Copy secondary
volume is at the same time the FlashCopy source volume. These volumes are referred to as
B volumes. The FlashCopy target volumes are referred to as C volumes.
26.2 Global Mirror query examples with TSO
The following examples describe how to set up a Global Mirror configuration using TSO
commands. The first examples focus on the query capabilities. All the examples are based on
the scenario illustrated in Figure 26-1.
26.2.1 Query a Global Mirror session
The RQUERY command provides information about a Global Mirror session. RQUERY has
the following options:
FCP ports
Global Copy
Global Copy
DWDM or
Channel Extender
