Chapter 4. DS Command-Line Interface 29
4.5 Command structure
This is a description of the components and structure of a Command-Line Interface
command.
A Command-Line Interface command consists of one to four types of components, arranged
in the following order:
1. The command name: Specifies the task that the Command-Line Interface is to perform.
2. Flags: Modify the command. They provide additional information that directs the
Command-Line Interface to perform the command task in a specific way.
3. Flags parameter: Provides information that is required to implement the command
modification that is specified by a flag.
4. Command parameters: Provides basic information that is necessary to perform the
command task. When a command parameter is required, it is always the last component
of the command, and it is not preceded by a flag.
4.6 Copy Services commands
We can classify the commands available with the DS CLI as follows:
1. ls commands: Give you brief information about the copy services state. See Table 4-1.
2. show commands: Give you detailed information about the copy services state. See
Table 4 -2.
3. mk commands: Used to create relationships. See Table 4-3.
4. rm commands: Used to remove relationships. See Table 4-4.
5. options commands: Used to modify some options in relationships, that were previously
created. See Table 4-5 on page 30.
