6. Enter the IP address of the DS8000 HMC in the Management console 1 IPfield. If you
have a second DS8000 HMC, select
Define a second Management console and enter
the second HMC address in the Management console 2 IP field. Click
OK.
7. When the add Storage Complex operation completes, the Storage Complex panel shows
the DS8000 HMC as an additional Storage Complex. In Figure 28-3, a DS6000 SMC, an
ESS 800 Copy Services Server, and a DS8000 HMC are all defined in one DS6000 DS
GUI.

8. Having added the DS8000 Storage Complex to the DS6000 Storage Complex, you are
now able to use the DS6000 DS GUI to create paths and Remote Mirror and Copy pairs,
where the DS8000 is the source device. You can also use the DS6000 DS GUI to manage
FlashCopy pairs on the DS8000.
User ID management
There are two important considerations when you are managing multiple Storage Complexes
from a single DS GUI:
The user ID that you use to add the alternative complex must exist in both complexes. You
must continue to use this user ID for all multi complex operations. If you log on to either
DS GUI with a user ID that does not exist on the other Complex, the remote Complex will
not appear in the Storage Complex panel.
Note: The steps to add the DS8000 Storage Complex to the DS6000 Storage Complex
cannot be performed with the DS CLI.
