3.4 Accessing the Information Center
The Software Information Center provides product or application information and a GUI for
browsing and searching online documentation. The broad range of topics covered includes
accessibility, Copy Services, device storage, host system attachments, concurrent code
loads, input/output configuration programs, and volume storage.
Accessing the Information Center directly
You can connect to the Information Center directly using a Web browser. If your SMC IP
address is 10.0.0.1 then you can access the Information Center running on that SMC at:
http://10.0.0.1:8455
If you are locally logged onto the SMC then you can also use:
http://127.0.0.1:8455
To access the public version of the DS6000 Information Center, go to:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/ds6000ic/index.jsp
Accessing the Information Center using the help symbol
The help panels are accessed by selecting the? symbol on the right side of the panel, which
is indicated by the arrow in Figure 3-2.

The help panel opens on the current subject of the configuration panel. In Figure 3-3, the help
was called from the FlashCopy main page, so the help for that page opened.
