Figure 28-1 Add DS6000 complex to DS8000
7. Enter the IP address of the DS6000 SMC into the Management console 1 IP field. If you
have a second SMC, select
Define a second Management console and enter the
second SMC address into the Management console 2 IP field. Click
OK.
8. When the add Storage Complex operation is complete, the Storage Complex panel shows
the DS6000 SMC as an additional Storage Complex.
9. Having added the DS6000 Storage Complex to the DS8000 Storage Complex, you are
now able to use the DS8000 DS GUI to create paths and Remote Mirror and Copy pairs,
where the DS6000 is the source device. You can also use the DS8000 DS GUI to manage
FlashCopy pairs on the DS6000.
Adding the DS8000 Storage Complex to a DS6000 Storage Complex
You add a DS8000 Storage Complex to a DS6000 Storage Complex as follows:
1. Connect to the DS6000 SMC using the DS GUI.
2. Click
Real-time manager.
3. Click
Manage hardware.
4. Click
Storage complexes.
5. Select
Add Storage Complex.
Figure 28-2 shows the Add Storage Complex panel that opens.
Note: The steps to add the DS6000 Storage Complex to the DS8000 Storage Complex
cannot be performed with the DS CLI. This is by design. However, if you don’t plan to use
the GUI, this will not be an issue.
Important: Make sure that the user ID you use to log on to the DS6000 DS GUI also exists
on the DS8000 HMC and that it has the same password. If not, the operation to add the
Storage Complex will fail. You will need to always use this same user ID for multi-complex
management.
