32 IBM System Storage DS6000 Series: Copy Services with IBM System z
4.7.2 Script command mode
Use the DS CLI script command mode, if you want to use a sequence of DS CLI commands.
Administrators can use this mode to create automated processes, for example, establishing
Remote Mirror and Copy relationships for volume pairs.
You can issue the DS CLI script from the command prompt at the same time that you provide
your login information:
1. Enter dscli -HMC1 <hostname or ip address> -user <user name> -passwd <pwd>
-script <full path of script file>
2. Wait for the script to process and provide a report regarding the success or failure of the
process.
Example 4-2 shows the use of the script command mode.
Example 4-2 Script command mode
C:\Program Files\ibm\dscli>dscli -HMC1 10.10.10.1 -user admin -passwd adminpwd
-script c:\test.cli

4.7.3 Interactive mode
Use the DS CLI interactive command mode when you have multiple transactions to process
that cannot be incorporated into a script. The interactive command mode provides a history
function that makes repeating or checking prior command usage easy to do.
1. Log on to the DS CLI application at the directory where it is installed.
Note: When logging in to the DS CLI, you can use the hostname or the IP address of the
DS SMC.
Attention: The DS CLI script can contain only DS CLI commands. Using shell commands
results in process failure. You can add comments to the scripts prefixed by the number
sign (#).
When logging in to the DS CLI, you can use the host name or the IP address of the DS
SMC.
