CONFIGURING AND RETRIEVING PRINTER OPTIONS
Setting options at the printer level enables you to use print
properties that your application does not support. Any options
selected at the printer level are overridden by those set at the
application or document level.
You can set specific options manually, or have the printer driver
automatically determine which options are available.
Accessing Device Properties
1 From the Start menu, choose
Settings > Printers.
The Windows
®
operating system displays the Printers
window.
2 Right-click the printer icon and choose one of the following:
Properties for the Windows
®
98/Me operating systems
Document Defaults for Windows NT
®
operating system
Printing Preferences for the Windows
®
2000/XP operating
system
3Click the
Device or Options tabs to set device-related options.
Device Configuration Examples
The operating system determines which tabs display in the
properties dialog box. Usually, General and Details tabs are
always available. The Printer Settings tab appears only when
your computer is connected directly to an unmapped network
port. The Sharing tab is present only when you are sharing the
printer. For more information, see your Windows
®
operating
system documentation.
