Click Update Now to retrieve current copier information. Update

is grayed out when Dynamic Update is enabled and/or when
Use Bidirectional Communication is disabled. The software
updates current settings when you access the Options dialog box.
Options Section
This section identifies the optional features connected to the
copier.
External Large Capacity Feeder—holds several reams of paper.
Inserter—inserts paper into documents.
Pedestal—holds paper cassettes.
Finisher—staples or saddle-stitches documents.
Hole Punch Unit—punches holes in documents.
Cassette Information
This section identifies enabled cassettes and the size and type of
paper they contain. If the configuration cannot be dynamically
retrieved, the default value is shown. Disabled and unavailable
cassettes are grayed out.
Upper Drawer—is the standard upper drawer of the copier.
Lower Drawer—is the standard lower drawer of the copier.
1st Pedestal—is the first cassette of the optional pedestal.
2nd Pedestal—is the second cassette of the optional pedestal.
Tandem LCF—is the tandem large capacity feeder of the optional
pedestal.
External LCF—is the optional external large capacity feeder.
Use Bidirectional Communication—enables the driver to
communicate with the controller provided that the protocol
installed is either TCP/IP or IPX/SPX. The driver sends and
receives messages, including the copier configuration and
Department Code validation, etc., to and from the controller.
Select this option to have the printer driver automatically retrieve
the correct settings from the printer. If department code
enforcement is enabled, bidirectional communication verifies the
department code.
Dynamic Update—controls when the driver communicates with the
controller to display configuration information.
