Chapter 19: Setting IPv4 and IPv6 Addresses
242
You can only select a VLAN that you have configured previously. For
information about how to assign a VLAN, see Chapter 11, “Setting
Port-based and Tagged VLANs” on page 139.
5. Enter an IPv6 address in the IP Address field in the following format:
nnnn:nnnn:nnnn:nnnn:nnnn:nnnn:nnnn:nnnn
Where n is a hexadecimal digit from 0 to F. The eight groups of digits
must be separated by colons. Groups where all four digits are “0” can
be omitted. Leading “0’s” in groups can also be omitted. For example,
the following IPv6 addresses are equivalent:
12c4:421e:09a8:0000:0000:0000:00a4:1c50
12c4:421e:9a8::a4:1c50
6. Enter the number of subnet mask bits in the Subnet Mask field.
7. Enter a IPv6 default gateway address in the Default Gateway IP field.
Use this field to assign the switch an IPv6 default gateway address. A
default gateway is an address of an interface on a router or other
Layer 3 device. It defines the first hop to reaching the remote subnets
or networks where the network devices are located.
8. Click Save.
9. Click SAVE
to save your changes to the startup configuration file.
