Operation Outline
This section gives an outline of printing by this printer.
The printing operation consists of four cycles for every sheet. These are:
1. Information transfer cycle - the transfer of data from the Host
computer to the Page buffer.
2. Recording cycle - the transfer of data from the page buffer to the
Photoconductor drum. This cycle places toner on the electrostatic
image in preparation for the transfer cycle.
3. Transfer cycle - transferring the image on the Photoconductor drum
to the paper.
4. Fusing cycle - fusing the image on the paper.
The following illustration shows the areas where these cycles take place.
The numbers represent the cycles shown above.
Information transfer cycle
The information transfer cycle follows the IPDS datastream.
One sheet of data for the front and back sides is transferred sequentially
from the host computer to the page buffer in this printer.
Printing data transferred from the host computer is first stored in the
intermediate buffer of the printer.
The data stored in the intermediate buffer is processed according to the
