Paper transport section
The paper transport section consists of a hopper, a tractor assembly,
transfer units, a fuser, and a stacker.
1. Hopper - consists of paper box guides for mounting a paper box (if a
pre-processing unit is not in place), hopper guides for guiding paper,
and a paper-end detector.
2. Tractor assembly - consists of the first and second tractors and a
back tension unit.
3. Transfer unit - consists of a transfer charger and a peripheral for
driving the charger.
This printer has transfer unit A for front-side printing and transfer unit
B for back-side printing (see "Front and back marking units" on page
2-2).
4. Fuser - is of the flash fusing type consists of a flash lamp and
structural parts.
This printer has fuser A for front-side fusing and fuser B for back-
side fusing (see "Front and back marking units" on page 2-2).
5. Stacker - consists of a paper folding mechanism and a drawer-type
stacker table with an up/down function. Alternatively paper can be
diverted to an output channel for further processing by a post-
processing unit.
Auxiliary units
To support the above processes, this printer has a roller unit, an
autoloader, and a heater.
1. Roller unit - is used to assist transfer and to stabilize paper transport.
This unit has a guide roller with special coating to keep contact with
non-fused paper and consists of a roller cleaner and its drive.
This printer has roller units A and B. Roller unit A[R1a] is installed in
transfer unit A.
2. Autoloader - assists paper transport for autoloading and is kept at a
position away from the paper surface during printing.
This unit consists of a paper transport roller and its drive. This
printer has autoloaders A and B.
3. Heater - is used to ensure high transfer quality when printing stops
and starts repeatedly in intermittent printing. This unit consists of a
halogen lamp for heating and a fan for hot-air blowing. (See "Setting
print modes" on page 3-8)
Controller shelf
The controller shelf supports the controller PC.
Main and sub operator panels
1. Touch screen - The touch screen is the main user interface through
which printer operations are defined and executed.
2. Sub-operator panel - The sub-operator panel consists of switches
and indicators necessary for power-on/off and maintenance.
