Note If authentication is not enabled on a VSC, all connected users can access the protected
network.
Public access interface tour
The service controller includes a Web server that is used to host the Web pages that make up
the public access interface. Standard pages are provided for common tasks such as login,
subscription purchase, and display of session information. The pages, error messages,
images, and workflow are all customizable. Advertisements can be displayed at a specific
interval.
This tour of the public access interface shows the default public access interface pages, and
some of the customization options available by selecting Service Controller >> Public
access > Web content > Site options.
When a wireless user attempts to browse to a public Web site, they are temporarily redirected
to the public access interface Login page shown below.
About the “Subscribe to the service” feature
When this feature is enabled, it allows first-time users to subscribe to the service by
dynamically creating their own accounts, which includes setting the following:
username and password
subscription plan
payment method
