Working with VSCs
VSC configuration options
VPN-based authentication
This option defines settings for users who log in to the public access interface using a VPN
connection. To use this option a VPN must be configured for securing wireless client
sessions. See Securing wireless client sessions with VPNs on page 12-3.
See the online help for details.
Notes for PPTP server
If you enable this option for a VSC, all wireless users on the VSC must establish a PPTP
connection. All other authentication methods (HTML, MAC) cannot be used.
If you enable this option on the default VSC, all wired users must establish a PPTP
connection. (Wired users always connect to the default VSC.)
When configuring user PPTP software, the address of the PPTP server is the one assigned
to the service controller LAN port.
MAC-based authentication
Note This option can only be used to authenticate wireless users. If used on the first VSC or any
other VSC that supports both wired and wireless users, wired users gain access without
having to authenticate.
