Norton 360 obtains specific
information about the Files of
Interest and submits the
informationtoSymantecduring
idle time. The information
includes things such as file
name, file size, and hashkey.
Symantec analyzes the
information of each File of
Interest and its unique hash
valueandprovidesaconfidence
level to the file. TheSymantec
serverstoresthehashvalueand
confidence level details of the
Files of Interest. The server
providesthedetailsimmediately
after you open the Norton
Insight - Application Ratings
window. Even the slightest
modificationof the filecauses a
changeinthehashvalueandthe
confidence level of the file.
Typically, most Files of Interest
belong to the operating system
orknown applications,and they
neverchange.Thesefilesdo not
require repeated scanning or
monitoring. For example,
Excel.exe is a file thatnever
changes but you always scanit
during a normal security scan.
