19.1 LCD_A Controller Introduction
The LCD_A controller directly drives LCD displays by creating the ac segment
and common voltage signals automatically. The MSP430 LCD controller can
support static, 2-mux, 3-mux, and 4-mux LCDs.
The LCD controller features are:
- Display memory
- Automatic signal generation
- Configurable frame frequency
- Blinking capability
- Regulated charge pump
- Contrast control by software
- Support for 4 types of LCDs:
J Static
J 2-mux, 1/2 bias or 1/3 bias
J 3-mux, 1/2 bias or 1/3 bias
J 4-mux, 1/2 bias or 1/3 bias
The LCD controller block diagram is shown in Figure 19−1.

device-specific datasheet for available segment pins.
