Section 6 OTHER CONVENIENT FUNCTIONS
6-87
This function automatically turns the power switch OFF ({) if no
operation has been performed on the copier for a certain period of
time (15 to 240 minutes). When you want to make copies again,
simply turn the power switch back ON ( | ).
The factory default setting is for the auto sleep function to engage
after 60 minutes.
More about the auto sleep function
The auto sleep function is a power-saving feature which
automatically turns the power switch to the copier OFF ({) when a
certain time elapses without any operation being performed.
Copiers are generally in a standby mode more than they are in
actual operation, so power consumption in the standby mode
occupies a large part of overall consumption. Having the copier
turned OFF ({) automatically after a certain amount of time
reduces unnecessary power consumption in the standby mode or at
night if the copier happens to be left on accidentally. The result is a
lower electricity bill.
NOTES
In order to change the amount of time that will elapse
before the auto sleep function engages, see “Auto sleep
time” on page 7-52. In order to disable the auto sleep
function, see “Auto sleep ON/OFF” on page 7-62.
The copier will enter a sleep mode when the auto sleep
function engages. In this state, when the copier detects
the presence of data to be printed out, it will
automatically revert to a copy-ready state and begin
printing out that data.
If the optional Fax Kit is installed in your copier, the
fax data can be printed out.
