1780R-Series Service Manual
Repackaging
If the instrument is to be shipped to a Tektronix Service Center, attach a tag to
the instrument showing:
1. Owner (with complete address) and the name of the person at your firm that
can be contacted.
2. Instrument serial number and a description of the service required.
Repackaging the instrument in the original manner provides adequate shipping
protection (See Figure 2–16). If the original packaging is not available or is unfit
for use, repackage the instrument as follows:
1. Obtain a corrugated cardboard carton whose inside dimensions are at least
six inches greater than the dimensions of the instrument, for cushioning. The
shipping carton should have a test strength of at least 275 pounds.
2. Surround the instrument with polyethylene sheeting to protect the finish.
3. Cushion the instrument on all sides by tightly packing dunnage or urethane
foam between the carton and the instrument.
4. Seal the carton with shipping tape or an industrial stapler.
