Provision Remote Access Bank II
Remote Interfaces
Remote Interfaces
The Access Bank II family can provide a variety of remote interface ports for voice and data services.
Using set remote commands, the operator can remotely configure the settings of each interface to
meet customer requirements. The following remote interfaces are available, depending on the specific
product:
l RS-232 Port – an RS-232 DTE customer interface for connection to a DS0 channel in the DS1
drop. This port supports baud rates from 1,200 to 57,600 between two Access Bank II’s and uses
a special format to transport asynchronous data over the synchronous DS0 channel.
l SDSL Port – a high-speed data network interface for connection to a SDSL router. The data rate
depends on the number of DS0s (up to 16) assigned to the port. SDSL routers have automatic
configuration, so no interface settings are required.
l T1 Drop Port – a second T1 port for connection to a T1 router or T1 PBX. The Access Bank II
cross-connects DS0s between its T1 Drop and T1 access line (same as the DS1 drop). DS0s on
the DS1 drop are assigned by the add interface command. DS0s on the T1 Drop are always
in sequential order, starting at 1.
l V.35 Port – a high-speed data network interface for connection to a V.35 router. The data rate
depends on the number of DS0s assigned to the V.35 port. If the router does not include automatic
rate sensing, it will have to be manually programmed for the required data rate.
